Tuition policy

  1. Tuition may be paid by one yearly payment or monthly. The first tuition payment along with the supply & the activity fees are due by May 20. These fees are non-refundable.
  2. Supply fee & Activity fee covers the workbooks, notebooks, arts and craft supplies, stationary, classroom supplies, snacks, fieldtrips, major festival celebrations etc.
  3. Tuition fee is due on 1st of each month. A 5% penalty is charged after the fifth of the month. There is also a minimum $30 charge for any returned checks.
  4. Enrollment is for the full school year. Parents withdrawing their children from the school for any reason during the school year shall pay the tuition for the month during which withdrawal occurs. A written notice of withdrawal must be submitted one month in advance. Supply and activity fee are non-refundable.
  5. The tuition fee is not prorated if your child is sick, you are on vacation or if the school is closed due to holiday, weather or any other reason that is beyond our control.
  6. If the program level is changed to a higher level, full month’s tuition for that level must be paid irrespective of the date when the change is made. The new level has to be maintained for at least three consecutive months after the change is made.
  7. Security deposit is a one time fee, paid at the time of enrollment. The deposit is refundable upon 30-day written notice of permanent withdrawal from the program given on the 1st of the month; while your child is still in attendance (Withdrawal is effective only from the first day and not from other days of the month). The security deposit can be applied towards the last month’s tuition.
  8. Preferred payment method is either check or cash. Checks are made payable to DAVM.

Tuition Discounts

A 3% discount is given for the pre-payment of the full year (9.5months) tuition. If you withdraw your child mid-year with a thirty day written notice per our withdrawal policy, the balance of tuition payment will be refunded. A 10% tuition discount is given on the lower tuition for enrolled sibling and a 15% discount on the lower tuition is given for a third sibling. Back to top

Withdrawal Procedure

A minimum 30-day written notice of permanent withdrawal from the school, while your child is still in attendance, must be given in order to get the refund of the security deposit (Withdrawal is effective only from the first day and not from other days of the month). The security deposit can be applied towards the last month’s tuition. Without the written notice, the deposit will be forfeited. Tuition and other fees are non-refundable except for during the school initiated dismissal. All new students are accepted on a six week trial basis. The six week period helps to determine if the school can meet the child’s and parents needs. At any time during this six week trial period the school can determine if the child should continue or not. The school also reserves the right to terminate the attendance of any student or family whose presence is considered detrimental to the best interest of the school. Back to top

Medical Records

Health requirement form, including the current immunization form must be submitted before the first day of school. These records must remain current while child is in attendance. Shot records must be updated on regular basis. Back to top


Students at DAVMS wear uniform Monday to Thursday, Friday is a free dress day. Uniform is Navy blue pants and light blue polo t-shirt which can be purchased at any stores like uniform stores, Academy, J.C. Penny, Target, and Wal-Mart. Closed toe shoes of any color with socks are mandatory at all times. Back to top

After School extra curricular activities

Indian dance, music and gymnastics classes are offered to DAVM student’s afterschool for a nominal fee. These classes are held on the school premises. For more information, inquire at the school office. Back to top


A healthy morning snack is provided by the school for to all the children. The afternoon snack for the students in the full day program is also provided by the school. Back to top


Students in the extended day and full day programs can bring vegetarian lunch from home. Each class room is equipped with a microwave to warm up the food. Back to top

Hours of Operation

Arrival D.A.V. Montessori School is open from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, August to May, except for some school holidays. School opens at 7:30 a.m. for full day (7:30 am – 6:00 pm) students or early arrival children and at 8:15 am for half day (8:30 am – 12:00 pm) and extended day (8:30 am – 2:30 pm) students. Summer program is offered during the months of June, July and one week in August. School will remain closed for cleanup during the second week of August. No childcare will be provided at that time. Pick Up The student must be picked up by 12:15pm and 2:45 pm for 12 Noon and 2:30pm dismissal respectively. Late pick up fee will be charged after 12:15 and 3:00 pm. A child will only be released to the persons designated by the parents in writing on the enrollment form. Proper identification is required from any unfamiliar persons authorized to pick up the child. A written note must be given in case an adult other than the names given in the enrollment form will pick up your child. Back to top


Carpool lane is the safest and the easiest way to get your child into the school everyday. A staff member escorts children from the vehicle into the school upon arrival. Carpool lane is open from 8:00am till 8:15 for KG and 1st graders & 8:15-8:45 am for Pre- school students. Parents are requested to remain inside the car and the teacher will help the child out of the car. If for any reason your child needs extra time or you need to go into the school, please park your car in the designated area. After 8:45am the parent must walk the child into the office and sign them in and a staff member will escort them to their class. After 10:00 am children will not be accepted into the school without a valid excuse. In case of an emergency or a temporary departure arrangement, the parents must send a written note to the school in advance giving the name and identifying information of the person picking them up. While dropping and picking up your child to/from the school, a parent must sign-in and sign-out the student on the class list placed outside the school entrance. Back to top

Holidays & School closings

A list of school holidays/ closings is on the school calendar given in the packet of school information at the beginning of the school year. Any changes in school calendar are communicated in writing with due notice. Occasionally, if Alief ISD is closed due to inclement weather, D.A.V Montessori may also be closed and no childcare will be available. Back to top


All students till four years of age take nap, if they are in extended day or full day program. The school provides nap mats. Please send a small pillow, a queen or king size pillow cover to put on the mat and a blanket with your child. These items will be sent home on Friday to be laundered. Please be sure your child’s name is clearly marked on all articles of clothing and bedding so that we can minimize loss of personal belongings. Back to top


Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled three times a year, fall, spring, and year end. If you or the teacher feels a need for a meeting at any time, it can be arranged. Parental involvement is important to us. You can volunteer in your child’s class by being the room parent, or help during field trips and parties. Back to top


Parents are invited to observe their child’s class. Call the office to schedule an observation time. Visitors are requested to refrain from talking to the students or the teachers. Any questions should be discussed with the Director or written on the observation form for the teacher to answer at a later time. Observation should be limited to maximum 30 minutes only. Positive-discipline methods, which encourage self-esteem, self-control, and self-direction, are used at the School. The Staff may use supervised separation from the group or loss of privileges, if necessary. Redirection or another activity may also be used to help redirect inappropriate behavior. Continued inappropriate behavior that endangers staff or other children may warrant expulsion from school. Back to top

Hearing and Vision Screening

The State of Texas requires that children 4 years as of September 1 and older must be screened for vision and hearing. Parents are required to provide a certificate of vision and hearing screening conducted by a licensed or a certified screener or health care professional. Back to top

Sick Children

The policy of D.A.V.M. regarding sick children is:
  1. Children need to be fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medicine before returning to school.
  2. Children who have thick, discolored nasal mucus must stay home until mucus is clear.
  3. Please notify the school if your child has a contagious illness, so we may notify other parents.
  4. Your child will not be allowed to attend school if he/she:
    • Has a fever of 99 degrees or over.
    • Has diarrhea or more than two loose stools during the day;
    • Has Vomited that morning
    • Have symptoms of a communicable disease;
    • Have a soar throat or a constant cough;
    • He/she is unable to participate in the program.
  5. If your child is sent home with a fever, he/she may not return to school until he/she is fever free for twenty four hours without any medication.
  6. If a child is not well enough to remain at school, a parent or someone listed on the release form will be contacted. We expect the child to be picked up from the school within an hour. Please make arrangements in advance.

Medical Emergency

In the event of a medical emergency the school will make every effort to contact a parent by telephone. Failing to reach a parent, we will call your emergency contact. The school will call 911 or your child will be taken to the nearest hospital (West Houston Medical canter @ 12141 Richmond Av., Houston, TX -77082 and a school representative will stay with your child until you or an alternate person assumes responsibility. Administering Medication

Parents are required to bring the medication to the school’s office and fill out a medication form before medication can be administered. The Prescription medicine must be in its original container with your child’s name on it. Non prescription medicine must also be in its original container labeled with the child’s name with directions for administering attached to the container. The child’s parent must pick up all the medication at the end of the day from the office. Texas state law requires the staff of this childcare facility to report any suspected abuse or neglect of a child to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services or a law enforcement agency at 1-800-252-5400 or licensing office at 713-767-2670. Vacation During the School Year (August – May)

If your child will be gone for any amount of time during the school year, please inform your child’s teacher and the office of the dates of their absence. Tuition must be paid as usual during this time, even if the child is absent. Back to top
